Esme earned a master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Subsequently, she was admitted into the Psy.D. Clinical Forensic Psychology program. Esme is now a PsyD candidate pursuing her dissertation on domestic violence prevention programs.
Over the past decade, Esme has provided outpatient and inpatient therapeutic services. She has extensive experience working with dual diagnosis and issues related to anxiety, depression, sexual deviance, domestic violence, trauma, and family reintegration. Recent experience encompasses treating clients with a primary diagnosis of eating disorders in residential, PHP, and virtual care settings.
Esme draws from an integrated paradigm using a client-centered, humanistic model that emphasizes existentialism, mindfulness, family systems, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while considering cultural concerns and practices. Additionally, she utilizes clinical applications that include trauma-focused treatment, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Her bilingual/Spanish skills allow her to reach a wider population furthering her ability to bring awareness of mental health care to underserved communities. Esme understands that establishing a healthy alliance between the provider and client is essential to the success of treatment and ensuring her clients’ safety.
