Nicholaus has extensive experience working with youth and families with significant mental health and substance use issues. He specializes in family-based treatment modalities. He practices EMDR for the treatment of trauma. He is experienced in working with individuals across many socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. He is well traveled, having lived abroad in The Netherlands as a young adult, followed by travel throughout Europe. His clinical experiences include work with Lorna Linda Children’s Hospital and Behavioral Health Institute, My Family Incorporated (MFI), and Benchmark Transitions. Nicholaus is fluent in Dutch and conversational in Spanish. He actively hikes, camps, practices yoga, and trains regularly in wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu. He gives regular community service as a youth advisor within his local congregation in additional to coaching youth sports through the YMCA and local martial arts academies.
