— HEAL TRAUMA, OVERCOME TIRING DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

INTRODUCTION TO OUR VETERANS INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

Our veterans have given so much in service to our country, facing challenges and sacrifices that many of us can hardly imagine. Yet, when they return home, they often face another set of battles—those involving mental health. It’s crucial for our community to recognize the importance of supporting our veterans as they navigate these struggles and to encourage them to reach out for the help they need and deserve.

The Struggles Veterans Face

Transitioning from military to civilian life can be incredibly challenging. Veterans may experience a range of mental health issues, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.  Combat exposure, deployments, and the stress of transitioning back to civilian life can contribute to a range of mental health issues.

PTSD: Estimates suggest that between 11-20% of veterans who served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom have PTSD in a given year.

Suicide: Veteran suicide rates are significantly higher than the general population. In 2019, the suicide rate for veterans was about 27.5 per 100,000 individuals, compared to 18.3 per 100,000 for non-veterans.

Specialized support acknowledges and addresses these distinct challenges, providing customized interventions that consider the complexities of their service, fostering a more effective and empathetic approach to their mental well-being.

Our Unique Approach To Veteran Care

We’re proud to offer two groundbreaking programs designed specifically for veterans – programs you won’t find anywhere else. With over fifty years of combined experience, we’ve crafted these treatments using a blend of scientific approaches, traditional therapy practices, and innovative modalities. Our programs not only address psychological and spiritual components but also focus on the physical body and energy.

Veterans often feel lost upon returning from active duty or combat, whether directly involved or through support roles. In a rapidly changing world, trauma and PTSD require comprehensive, dedicated treatment in a peaceful, trigger-free environment to allow the brain and body to heal. Those who have faced chronic stress or traumatic events often feel disoriented and dysfunctional, needing time to restore their full capabilities. Unfortunately, many also turn to substance use to numb their pain.

Our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) offer two distinct tracks:

Substance Use Disorders Program: Featuring Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) with Suboxone, this program combines psychiatric treatment with Suboxone, a life-saving medication since its FDA approval in 2002, helping countless individuals overcome opioid use disorder.

Trauma and PTSD Program: Utilizing Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAP), this program is currently the most effective treatment for trauma, depression, anxiety, and feelings of being stuck in life.

Both programs foster supportive communities, helping veterans reconnect socially and find their identity in today’s society. Our case management support also links veterans to other essential services, including physical health care, employment opportunities, and community resources.

— OUR APPROACH: COMBINING COMPASSION AND CLINICAL EXPERTISE

COMPONENTS OF INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM

With a focus on combining compassion and clinical expertise, our program encompasses a range of components that work harmoniously to support healing and transformation. Ketamine therapy has shown potential benefits for a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain. Here are some of the key benefits that have been reported:

Ketamine can work much faster than traditional antidepressants, which can take several weeks to start working. In some cases, patients may experience significant relief within hours or days of their first ketamine infusion.

Ketamine has been shown to improve mood and reduce feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, which are common symptoms of depression. It can also increase motivation and energy levels.

Ketamine has been found to reduce suicidal ideation in patients with depression and other mental health conditions. This is a critical benefit, as suicidal thoughts can be life-threatening.

Although the effects of a single ketamine infusion or injection may only last a few days to a few weeks, multiple infusions, injections can have longer-lasting results. Some patients report continued relief for several months after completing a series of infusions.

Ketamine has been shown to reduce anxiety in patients with a variety of anxiety disorders, including social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD.

Improved pain management: Ketamine has been used to manage chronic pain, including neuropathic pain and pain associated with conditions like fibromyalgia. It can also help reduce the need for opioid medications, which can be highly addictive.

It’s important to note that ketamine therapy is not appropriate for everyone and should only be used under the guidance of a qualified healthcare provider. It’s also important to weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks and side effects of the treatment.
